going to school outside of the u.s.

<p>A big difference between Canadian and American schools is that Canadian schools place a heavy emphasis on grades/test scores. At the majority of Canadian universities, admissions will be based solely on numbers (Queens is the one exception I can think of, as they have all applicants write a couple of short essays) For more specialized programs however (e.g. Health Sciences at McMaster, AEO at UWestern Ontario, etc.) they will require teacher recs, essays, ECs, etc.</p>

<p>For the most part though, things like teacher recs, essays, ECs, etc. are only taken into consideration for major scholarships.</p>
