Anyone here applying to schools outside the United States?

I've been getting really into the idea of leaving the U.S for undergrad... then again I'm not American so I've never felt that America was my limit or where I would spend the majority of my life after high school.

Anyways, anyone else interested in schools out of the country?

I’m also a foreigner (English by birth) and applied to 5 schools in the UK for university (although I ended up staying in the US). If you want to leave, I say go for it. The worst they can say is “No.” :)

What schools did you apply to? I’m also thinking about applying to schools in the UK.

I applied to St. Andrews, University of York, Durham University, University of Warwick and University College of London.

In addition to those mentioned above, take a look at the Canadian schools (UBC, McGill, etc…), Richmond in London, and University of Edinburgh - all popular choices for US students. But realize that you won’t get financial aid if that matters to you.

Thanks.

Does anyone know if I could get scholarships, grants, loans from the United States to use for a school out of the country?

Some schools in the UK will give you scholarship money if you are VERY lucky, but M’s Mom is right, no other financial aid to speak of. In fact, minimal at best anyway.

I don’t think you can get money from the US government to go to school in another country, but I can’t be sure. I’m sure you could do a quick Google search and find out.

Stafford loans can be used to attend college outside the US. Pell grants and state grants cannot be used. Canadian schools do offer merit scholarships to top American applicants but little or nothing in the way of need based grants.
