good Accounting schools in California besides USC/Haas??

I looked at the rankings and didn't find any California schools other than USC Marshall and UC Berkeley's Haas. Let's say I didn't get in to those, what are some other schools that offer an Accounting program? Is Cal State Fullerton renown?

Also, is AACSB really that significant?

Basically any CSUs

UCLA has an accounting minor, which is more than enough to open your doors for any accounting career. Big 4 recruits heavily at UCLA.

Just get into any school with accounting, complete the curriculum, then pass the CPA exam after graduation. With CPA, the importance of your school decreases significantly.

Thanks for the quick reply dhl3.

I know it is a fact, but why do you think the Big 4 recruiters come to UCLA as opposed to CSUs? Are CSU’s viewed that inferiorly? After all, UCLA’s program is only a minor and not a major.

Thanks for the CPA tip–that route looks appealing to me.

Big 4’s visit CSU as well.

Search is your friend,Oliver_Twist. If you read post number 1 in the thread, “Everything you wanted to know or should know about accounting,” you will see that the school you attend is irrelevant! Please say that five times. Any California school that offers accounting as a major will be good enough. The key for getting recruited for a job is to have a high enough GPA and go well on the interview.

Ok I just read that thread (very helpful), now does this ‘high enough GPA’ refer to the GPA of all courses taken throughout 4 years of undergrad (including say general ed requirements)? Or does it specifically refer to courses in the Accounting major curriculum?

It depends on the recruiter. Normally, the Big 4 firms want at least a 3.5+ in accounting and accounting related courses such as business law. You should probably also have an overall GPA of 3.3+ as well.Obviously, I can’t speak for all firms or all interviewers. Just get above a 3.5 both in accoutning and overall, and you should be set.
