I’m very interested in going to a school with a great Biology undergraduate program. I would prefer it in California as its close to home. As you guys most likely know more then me can you reccomend me colleges in California that have a great Biology program? A nice campus would be a big plus.
Biology is a common major for all colleges in California. What’s important is what you plan to do with your degree, your stats, EC’s and your budget.
There’s no such thing as a “great biology undergraduate program”. At the undergrad level, biology is biology–it’s the same at every school. Research universities might be better than liberal arts colleges if your goal is graduate school or a professional school that looks favorably upon research, eg, medical school, since you will be afforded the opportunity to do research as an undergraduate. But other than that, it really doesn’t matter where you study biology as an undergrad.
Undergraduate programs are not really ranked for biology. At a bigger university you have access to research opportunities, but the classes can be a lot more impersonal with the large lecture format. 300+ students is not uncommon.
What do you want to do with that major?
