Good career path?

I wanted to major in something at Arizona state that I could rely on if I couldn't get into PT school. I started looking at forensic science and it seems interesting to me.

I was planning on getting a bachelors in this along with the prerequisites needed to become a PT (general chem, gen bio, etc.). If I get into PT school, well then I get in. If not, I figured forensic science is something awesome with good job opportunities that I could use as a back up to my primary option. Is this career path possible?
Also, if I don't get into PT school, could I go to grad school for something else relating to my forensic science degree? Thank you.

I don’t know much about forensic science, but typically you are not limited to graduate programs that are the same as your undergraduate degree. For example, I have a BA in psychology but I am looking at business graduate schools for marketing. If you do want to major in forensic science, then of course you may still attend graduate school relating to that field. There are masters of science programs in forensic science. Or you could go into a doctorate program if you are interested in research in that field.

Just to give you an idea of job opportunities, I will paste an excerpt from Cedar Crest College’s website for an MS in Forensic Science (not that I recommend this school, I just happened to know they have that program):

“The Master of Science Program in Forensic Science prepares students to enter the forensic science workforce in a variety of areas including crime scene reconstruction, pattern evidence analysis, drug identification, toxicology, trace evidence examination and forensic DNA testing. The program prepares students for a meaningful career as forensic casework scientists, researchers or future administrators by developing the skills necessary through coursework, research and opportunities to contribute to the forensic science community such as presentations at professional conferences.”

Of course, this is by no means an exhaustive list of job opportunities.
