hey fellow chinese person ahha
i think u stand a good chance. i mean wharton business school is realli competitive but u have realli high math n perfect sat II math scores. The math helps with business plus ur fbla president along with other office holding positions. and the basketball's pretty impressive especially for an asian u don't see much of those so all in all i think u have a good chance
chance me back?

Well, the two things that are question marks are (1) the SAT I score (2180 is good, but 2250 is better--and is what most applicants will have), and (2) the lack of a regional or national award besides National Merit Scholar.

Having pointed out your weaknesses, you still have an impressive resume and your chances are not half bad for Wharton--especially applying ED. I'm going to say "Slight Reach" because of the two items above, but I'm also going to say I wouldn't be too surprised if your 4.0 in a very tough courseload and AP Scholar with distinction recognition gets you in. I will even go so far as to say that your essays will probably make all the difference one way or the other.

Good luck (and I hope you do get into Wharton and prove my estimates above wrong).

P.S. Wharton is really big on wanting people with great math skills, so having your strongest SAT I score in Math works in your favor.

thanks calcruzer. anyone else? i also do have and perfect scores in speech and interview and was the 3rd place overall student score in the academic decathlon competition in the second most competitive county in california. nationally, besides national merit semifinalist, i also do have ap scholar with distinction.

i really do hope, because of my rather low SAT I score compared to other candidates, that my rank in rather big class (709) and my EC's mainly being ASB President (in a school that is 80% white) and me participating in varsity basketball and getting recognition for it (even though i am chinese, which i believe those who are chinese rarely, although there are exceptions, play in least one of the big three sports: basketball, football, and baseball) will give me an slight edge over other Penn candidates who do not have USAMO or something as prestigious going for them.

what do you all think? comments would be appreciated!

i don't see how you won't be very competitive for wharton. true, ur SAT scores are a little low but you have lots of leadership + great GPA which would stand out. if you don't get in ED maybe you can retake the SATs, which would help for RD (if Wharton is like harvard/mit this should be how it works?) and asians + sports = really stands out :) altho like the guy above said it wouldn't hurt to have national awards besides standardized test awards like National Merti and AP Scholar--choose something u like to do, then be really good at it! (like ur speech/interview/decalthlon stuff, try for state and national awards)
