Good chances? applying to UC colleges

Hi guys,

I got an
Sophomore year: 3.5 weighted, 3.33 unweighted both
Junior year: *1st semester- 2.5 gpa weighted and 2.0 unweighted
*2nd semester- 2.99 weighted and 2.4 un weighted
- 1940 Sat score,
- 2.6 un weighted gpa
- 3.0 weighted gpa.

The reason is my school is the number one school in California so it's very competitive. I have 3 years varsity tennis, medical hospital volunteering, helped build homes for poor. Have 100 volunteer hours. 13th place in chess state championships. .Can you tell me my chances at all of the UC colleges, and any other good universities, Also i don't know if i need to mention this but, i had a personal loss in my family in my 11th grade, which i screwed up on ..... and I had to get help to bring myself back to my studying mood.

Thank you so much.

UC Berkeley and UCLA will most likely reject you. I’d say you have a 5% chance at most. If you really love those schools, you should apply, but don’t get your hopes up. UC San Diego/UC Santa Barbara are still reaches. However, I’d say you have a 30% chance if you explain your situation (about your personal loss) in a thoughtful way. You should at least get into one of the other UCs, probably Merced or Riverside. If you like them all, you should apply to them all.

The guy above me has no idea what he is talking about. All that precent stuff has no basis. Its good that your from California. Your stats are between the 25% and 75% but seem lower than the 50%. You need to check if you are eligible to apply by finding out your UC GPA. There are methods to calculate that and they take honors classes into account. Yet with your gpa it does look good that you will be accepted to either university.
