Hope you’ll consider seriously Brandeis (s.one above talked about their fencing program). -Going there probably as a D3 runner; they’ve got such great proximity to so many other Boston area colleges for inter-collegiate athletics events / meets (which was a big plus for me). Noticed your post in Brandeis thread (which was only way I found your thread here.) Some of the other colleges are in locations where the team(s) have longer travel times and fewer meets due to their locations, so consider this a “plus” for Brandeis (being close to many other D3 teams near Boston, that is).
@howToDecide2017 Yes, Brandeis is very much in the mix. We met with Coach Shipman at JOs in February. My daughter thought him a little brusque, but I felt he was just being honest and straight forward (and she is relatively inexperienced, even if she didn’t like the way he stated it). Brandeis accepting her for enrollment but wait-listing her for QBReC was a little bitter sweet, but the idea of attending school near Boston still excites her.
So far, two acceptances from schools with fencing teams and waiting to hear from two more this week (the last two fall solidly into the reach category).
I wouldn’t worry about the wait-listing for QBReC (I’m guessing she’ll get it if she wants it, after a bit of time perhaps) … since other top applicants that got into QBReC (not many, it appears) seem interested in other schools (then with Brandeis being a “safety” where they likely won’t enroll). So my prediction is that those who do enroll will be able to get into QBReC, if they already applied and were wait-listed (since that’s a very good sign, already). I actually wasn’t even invited to apply to that one (QBReC), only the LSCs, but maybe after getting through some freshman science courses (biol. and chem. etc. with hopefully high grades and all) might also be interested in QBReC later on …
