I know the usual ones like MIT,Caltech, and so on but there is no way I can afford the exorbitant fees. Does anybody know any other good colleges which offer scholarships to international students? I can pay around $10,000 a year. Surely there are some good(maybe not best of the best but pretty great nevertheless) ones that offer scholarships to international students?(I'm from India). Before I post my qualifications,I would like to know this. Thank you.

NOTE: I just want to know if scholarships EXIST at all. I don't mind slogging for 12 hours a day. I'm already pretty good in physics and maths and I absolutely love them. I'm always in the top two ranks in my school. I read my sister's 11th grade physics books and I am teaching myself calculus(I'm in the 10th grade). However I've heard that in the Ivies, however brilliant the student there is no full scholarship offered(is there?)

The answer to your question depends on what your ultimate goals are. If it is graduate school and a Ph.D. then you can get a solid preparation as long as the curriculum has a full year of quantum mechanics and electricity & magnetism. In addition you will need to get some research experience and usually the standard summer programs like NSF REUs and Department of Energy Summer Internships are only open to U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents. This means you will have to find your research experience on campus. Most research-oriented universities (those with Ph.D. programs) will have ample opportunities but many other universities also have a focus on undergraduate research so look at their programs.

As far as scholarships are concerned, most public universities will have few of them for international students so you might want to look at private universities which are not as selective as MIT. These sometimes do offer international student scholarships.

The bottom line is that the basic coursework is more or less the same all over the United States so base your decision on the finances and research opportunities.

Yes, I want to ultimately go into research after doing my PhD. Could you tell me where to start? There are so many different schools. And in general what is necessary to apply to these colleges? Don’t want to leave everything for too late. Thank you.
