Good Colleges in California or New England?

I have a 3.15 un-weighted GPA with the majority of my classes being Honors with one AP class (Chem) on my transcript. I'm currently in my junior year, and I haven't taken my SAT. I did well on my PSAT; it said, if I stay on the right track, I should get a 650 CR, 750 M, and the writing section needs a lot of work (>.<). I'm planning on applying to Scripps (it's a reach), Whitman (another reach), Clark, University of Nevada - Reno (safety).

Are there any colleges I'm missing that I should look at?

Edit: I forgot UNR as my safety since I live in Nevada.

Yeah you're forgetting about the other 4000 or so!!!

Just kidding. What do you want to major in? What sort of environment are you looking for?

look at Univ of Pacific, and Redlands. If you like NW, Univ of Pacific Sound (UPS) is popular and not as 'reachy' as Whitman. PM Carolyn -- she knows all.

Tryphena:

UCB/UCLA: Super Reach (out of state)
UCSD: Reach (out of state)
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Slight Reach (out of state)
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Match (out of state)

I don't think Scripps is a huge reach for you. If you like the Claremont Colleges, look at Pitzer also.

"What do you want to major in? What sort of environment are you looking for?"

I thinking of major in History or Linguistics with a minor in Japanese and/or French. I also love small and personal classes, so a ratio between 1:10 and 1:20. It's a change of pace compared to Clark Country Schools (1:30 to 1:38)!

"I don't think Scripps is a huge reach for you."
Thanks!

"If you like the Claremont Colleges, look at Pitzer also."
I think I will. :)

In addition to the Claremont Colleges, you may want to check out the following schools in California:

University of San Diego
Loyola Marymount University
Pepperdine University
St. Mary's College
Chapman University

I have to say I do think Scripps is at least a moderate reach for you, (it's hard to tell without your statistics) it was named the hottest women's college by someone this year, and their statistics are almost as good as Wellesley. Your CR score was on the bottom of their range, and they can afford to be selective with only a few hundred students and the draw of the Claremont consortium.

Try Occidental (also a little reachy)
Mills (Likely)
Lewis and Clark (Match)
Santa Clara University (Match)
and LMU(Match)

"Mills (Likely) [...] LMU(Match)"

I would never even consider them, and I'm going to visit LMU (along with Cal State, UCR, and the Claremont Colleges) on March 23 thru March 24.

if you need help with claremount colleges or UCR i can help since i live 10 minutes from claremount and visit UCR 2 times a week. I can actually show you the good things about being in riverside

"I would never even consider them, and I'm going to visit LMU (along with Cal State, UCR, and the Claremont Colleges) on March 23 thru March 24."

I think you're making a mistake, Mills is like northern California less selective Scripps, Occidental is more intellectual than any school on your list so far except maybe Scripps. Santa Clara is like a northern California version of LMU. Lewis and Clark is much more appealing than Clark. I visited all these schools, I know. Also, if you're going to be insulting about schools, maybe you shouldn't be here, considering that a lot of people who go to those schools are in this community.

occidental is a wonderful university. I recommend you check it out, as you can take classes at occidental, art center and cal tech if accepted

"Also, if you're going to be insulting about schools, maybe you shouldn't be here, considering that a lot of people who go to those schools are in this community."

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be insulting. I was just merely stating a fact. I wasn't going to apply or think of those because I don't think I would get in.

Sorry.

in that case, you should check them out, and i'm sorry i jumped to conclusions

It's okay! I can't hold a grudge.
