Good grades and excellent academic rigor, bad SAT's

I just wanted to know what my chances are when i apply to certain schools.
During my past junior year, I took AP Calc AB, APUSH, AP Physics B, HN english, and latin and the standard gym, etc. I have a high A average in Calc, a very high B in physics, and Bs and A's in my other classes. During my senior year, I plan to take AP Bio, AP Calc BC AP Physics C, AP Psychology, and Ap latin (along with HN english and other required classes). I also feel very confident about my AP exam scores. I volunteer at the local hospital and i have accumulated close to 300 hours in 2 years. I am also roughly top 7 percent at my high school.

Now the bad news... my SAT's are really bad. I just got the subject tests back and got a 600 in physics, 660 in Math I and a 590 (gasp) in Math II. The thing is though, I love math and physics and i plan to go into biomedical engineering. With these scores though, I am very discouraged. I was hoping to apply to somewhere like Johns Hopkins U, but I'm not sure if my SAT scores will significantly lower my chances. Thank you!

Your SAT Subject Scores will probably pull you down. You should probably retake them during the fall. Most colleges don’t bother with looking at Math I though.

“Most colleges don’t bother with looking at Math I though.”

I don’t think that’s necessarily always true. I think they’d look at it if the student has not yet finished precalc, which doesn’t apply to greekspeak.

I’m not sure if JHU requires the SAT IIs, i they do I’d highly recommend retaking the subject tests especially for biomedical engineering. If you could, why not take SAT II Biology? that way you could replace your physics score with biology. I hope this is helpful. Let me know if you have any more questions

Chance me!
