Is this a good schedule that will best prepare me for University/Pre-Med?

English 11
Us/Az History
Honors Pre-Ap Pre Calc
Honors Physics
AP Biology
Biotechnology

Im not that good at english and an in regular english right now as a sophomore (high school). Should I take AP English? I think my schedule is already hard with all these sciences. Should I take AP ENGLISH??? LET ME KNOW!!! Thanks

I have had an “A” in regular English both freshman year and sophomore. I am a okay writer but my english teacher currently thinks I should consider AP English (Lang and Comp). I’m not the best at analyzing passages and comprehension, I’m decent at writing. LET ME KNOW

If you can get a good grade in it and put enough effort into it then yes take it. But if you aren’t good at English and don’t think youd be able to get a decent garde I wouldn’t. My school offers AP, Honors, and regular English for juniors or seniors. I’m didn’t want to focus on putting a lot of effort into English so I took honors because it was still a difficult class but not at the level of demand AP was.

The easy fix is to drop 'biotechnology" and upgrade English, to at least the Honors level. (Eng Lang appears to be a little easier than Eng Lit, but most of it depends on your teacher.) Not sure what biotechnology is at the HS level, but no way can it offer anything of substance in comparison to what you would encounter in college.

Don’t forget that 1/3rd of the mcat is verbal, so you will need to be strong in that subject too.

Any HS schedule will do. You cannot prepare for pre-med. Just try your best in any subjects. better yet, taking the ones in your area of interest. Continue with the same idea in UG, aim at very high college GPA, any major, do EC’s, have fun, enjoy 4 years, prep. for MCAT, do well and you will be all set, if you are still interested in medicine in 4 years (keep in mind that most pre-meds fall out of pre-med track). So, it is better to take weed out class in UG as soon as possible to test the waters and not waste much time.
In regard to Verbal part of MCAT, unfortunately, it is not possible to prep. for that. My D’s verbal has been always been her lowest on all standardized test despite English being highest… yes, Verbal was her lowest on MCAT as predicted, but her MCAT was decent enough to get in. She is not fond of reading, nothing she can do, this is the way it is. If you are an avid reader, then there is nothing to worry about. D. is a very good writer though, and this skill is essential at many steps in a process, even for your UG lab reports and various applications. Take as many classes as possible that involve tons of writing with good teachers critique. No college classes measured up in difficulty to D’s HS AP literature. She was constantly re-writing papers in this class and apparently it paid off.

If you can possibly take AP Chem before you finish high school I think that it would be extremely valuable to keep up with the other pre med students in college. At least at my college, anyone you had a strong AP chemistry class was at a huge advantage in my general chemistry course. In fact, I would take it a step further, if you can take AP chem or AP Physics instead of AP Bio, I would do it in a heartbeat

Thank you all, I means a lot to me that people care!! 10Ninja, My school doesn’t offer AP CHEM or AP PHYSICS… I asked the counselor and she said they wont probably have those. It sucks and I would do that too. I think my schedule is a little hard right now but taking AP US HISTORY AND AP ENGLISH would kill me so I prolly wont…

what do you think, AP LANG? for person not that well in comprehension?
