What are some good intro classes to take? Basically ones that are somewhat fun, have good professors, and aren't hard. I'm currently enrolled in intro to political theory and waitlisted in Ameican Politics. I'm thinking about maybe dropping the political theory class and switching in a different one. any recommendations? btw I'm in Olin looking to major in finance and maybe also accounting.

Phil 100g intro to logic. Some people find it hard, I thought it was useful to have taken paired with majors that make use of logic (science, engineering, math, business)

I agree, a good course in logic is always helpful. I’d recommend just going through the course listings and see what catches your eye - something that you think might be interesting, but not something you’d necessarily want to major/minor in. As a bio/math major, I took intro to linguistics and found out that I really liked it, but I can’t guarantee that you would. I’m taking an ethics course this semester, and am thinking about possibly taking a cultural anthro and/or lgbt studies course in the future.

I also took biomedical ethics which was interesting and wasn’t too work heavy.

That’s about all the intro classes I took

Oh hey marc, that’s the class I’m taking this semester! You said it was a good class?

It was interesting and wasn’t too work heavy (I had it with Doris but I dont think hes teaching it this semester – too lazy to check). We had a paper and two non cumulative exams (essay response, he gave us 10 questions and 4 or 5 were on test, choose 3 to answer).

Our class was much more discussion based than lecture, even though the class had 70 people. He’d ask for people’s opinions. We ended up briefly talking about that week’s House several times (it was amazing, we’d start a topic and the same topic would be on the show and this happened 2-3 times in the course). I enjoyed it (since im an engineer I only had to take two Humanities classes and was glad I took this (other was logic which was easy for me since I was a junior and had a math/cs major).

We dealt with animal testing, abortion, and don’t really remember what else ;-x

Ok, thanks! I do have Doris by the way, so I’ll be looking forward to the class.

Doris is definitely a bit peculiar, but an amazing professor and has really interesting discussions.
