Good liberal undergrad schools that allow you to combine pre-professional "Med" with business/econ?

I'm looking for a school that has a strong pre-med that I can easily combine with Business/Econ, along with liberal arts.

If anyone can give me suggestions, that would be great!

Thank you.

I'll add politics to the list

That would probably be any LAC with a good pre-med program and either an economics or political science major. Pre-meds can major in whatever they want, as long as they take the pre-med requirements, and economics seems like a pretty popular major for pre-meds these days. Business may be a little more difficult to get to work, and I have heard (mostly on CC) that medical schools don’t like business majors too much. But that’s only second-hand knowledge.

What you’ll probably want to ask current students about at the colleges you intend to apply to is scheduling - e.g., whether the college makes it difficult to take the pre-med classes at the same time as certain other ones. For example, the school may have tons of economics pre-med majors and so there are several sections of intro micro that are not offered at the same time as intro biology. But if virtually no one is an art history pre-med major, there might be several conflicts between the times of art history required classes and pre-med required classes. I doubt this will be a significant problem, though, because even at the smallest liberal arts colleges there are typically more than one section of the most popular/required pre-med classes.

well, that would be a couple thousand schools. how about some more parameters: unwtd gpa, SAT, region, SATIIs, your state of residency, gender, etc. Understand that one takes certain classes that med schools require, and then you can major in anything you want. So major econ or politic, but take the required courses. The business major usu has a bunch more requirements than polisci or econ, and that makes it harder but not impossible to complete both a business degree and the med school requirements.

since you’re not going anywhere you cannot afford, how much support have your parents agreed to give you? have you run any net price calculators? if not, do so now.

One suggestion I would add is that since there is little overlap between business/econ and the pre-med classes, you should look for a school with few or no core requirements, otherwise you may find yourself either overloaded trying to get all the classes in for both or you’ll need to go an extra semester or so.

Also, at my D’s school a minor in chemistry takes 5 chem classes and pre-med requires 4, so depending on the school you choose, you might consider adding one more chem class to get your business/econ degree with a minor in chemistry. Of course her school specifically would require P-Chem to get the minor, the bane of many a student, but for one class, is might be worth it when applying to med school, especially with a non-science major.

You can talk with the pre-health advisor at any school about what you plan to do. In fact, I’d suggest it, as the pre-health advisor is often one of the most important people you’ll have as an undergrad and they can guide you through the process from start to finish. Getting a good one should be on the list of must haves for your college list.

but pChem is so cool these days. gives you a reason to remember your calculus courses and an opportunity to focus on quantum physics. It doesn’t get any cooler than quantum physics.
