whether or not we get in, the important thing is, we tried... no regrets...

Everything happens for the best.

Try to believe in that, and you'll live a happy life.

i completely agree

huzzah huzzah! gl tomorrow everyone!

good luck everyone! i KNOW we'll all be fine = P.. regardless of whether we get into Harvard or not.

woohoo, almost over peeps :)

funny how no one wants to go to bed...

If I weren't on academic probation for skipping 9 out of the last 12 days of school, I would SO stay home tomorrow to stare at my computer, waiting for that e-mail.

P.S. I hear from my brother that even the good-news e-mails just say something very generic in the subject like "Harvard Admissions Decision" or something, so don't have a heart attack when your inbox isn't filled with a huge "CONGRATULATIONS! YOU'RE IN!!!" from them.

B

you'll just have a heart attack after you click on the email

Precisely.

Oh, and also, my brother told me he got his e-mail at around 1:30 EST instead of 5:00 EST. Guess that means I'll be going to the "bathroom" (aka computer lab) several times per class.

are you serious? keels over

The show must go on

I was listening to Queen 'The ahow must go on' last year year when I received the rejection letter from Harvard. Before opening the message I felt as though I was going to do bungee jumping jejeje with a simple click my life changed a lot. My parents and friends encouraged me to apply again ...so there we go again with all the strees of filling out applications and stuff.

Its so difficult to get in. Even if we won the Nobel Peace Prize, there will be more kids in the large pool of applicants who probably have won the same prize. I can't complain. I've learnt alot, volunteered in Thailand and Africa, eaten strange food (including bugs), met interesting people and realized that we have the opportunity to learn everywhere. We don't need to go to those 'big' universities to be succesful. All depends on how we see things. I have been working on the admission process for almost 2 years and now I feel confident that there will be more possibilities beyond Harvard and Princeton. Unfortunately, a graduate from Harvard has a big chance to get good positions at work, but still it is not the last university in the world.

Don't feel bad if you guys are rejected. Yeah Yeah it feels awful to open a message like ... "WE ARE VERY SORRY TO TELL YOU THAT BLA BLA BLA " I know most of us will be sorry also if we read this from Harvard or any other university....BUT WE NEED TO MOVE ON....THE SHOW MUST GO ON ...LET'S FACE IT. Whatever happens we still have our mind to make right decisions and get to the top.

I've realized that it is also a little bit a matter of luck. Come on there are 22, 700 kids who want to go there and Im sure at least half of them are well-equipped to perform well ....but harvard has only some places each year so many of us don't get anything. Numbers on the scores reports and letters of recommendations cannot reflect exactly what we are, perhaps the essay shows a lot of our personality, but still there are so much more we could not say to the admission committee about ourselves.

"I'll face it with a grin
I'll never give in
on with the show"

Freddie Mercury

An encouraging message, and an encouraging username, tsunamivolunteer.

We all needed something like that.

On an unrelated note, those of you who used a gmail address for the decision letter, Gmail gives you a preview of the first few words of the message in the inbox window, so you'll probably see either

"Harvard Admissions Decision - Congratulations! The Harvard admissions committee has vot..."

Or, perhaps,

"Harvard Admissions Decision - Thank you for applying to the Harvard class of 2009. We regre..."

But let's hope that the latter doesn't happen.

jejeje I'm a volunteer in Thailand. In a few minutes the internet place will be close because it's midnight here so good luck everyone. My cousin in Mexico will tell me the results over the phone. jdejejej he doesn't speak English so it'll be quite stressful
