I am very interested in applying to some MSF programs out of undergrad (Econ major entering junior year). I understand that schools like Princeton and BC are two of the top schools that offer MSF. However, I was wondering if anyone knew of some solid, middle to upper middle-tier programs located in NYC, BOS, PHI, CHI, maybe even DC. I have a 3.9 GPA at a middle to lower tier state school in the southeast so I'm trying to decide where I have a realistic shot at going.

Philly

1) Villanova

Boston

1) MIT
2) Boston College
3) Bentley
4) Brandies

Chicago

1) UIUC
2) Notre Dame (MS Management)
3) Michigan (MS Management)

DC

1) Johns Hopkins
2) American

Vanderbilt, Washington St. Louis, Ohio State, all are good. Since you are an econ major you’d be eligible for UVA’s MS in Commerce also.

** This isn’t a ranking, just a list of programs.

Hope this helps!

Thanks! I have used your site a lot learn about different MSF programs. Villanova seems to be exactly what I am looking for. I also like Vandy and BC from what I’ve read. Don’t know too much about the other schools you listed but I will be sure to do my research.

Good! Shoot me an email from my site if you have any specific questions. Best of luck with your search!

Think about the UVA masters in commerce program. Not a straight MSF program but their placement rocks. It is expensive. S went there and loved it, he was an undergrad Econ major. Got a solid job.

I agree with the UVA recommendation. They don’t accept business majors so some people might be excluded, but if you qualify to apply I would strongly recommend it.
