UVA Masters in Commerce

S is liberal arts major and is looking at the masters in commerce program at UVA. It is only a few years old. Anyone have any info about how the program is doing in terms of recruiting?

I heard the recruiting is pretty good. Similar to that of their undergrad who are usually recruited by various large and prestigious corporations. Also, the study abroad portion is very enticing.

The program is great. Placements are at all top banks and PE shops. I don’t know too much about the marketing track, but the finance track is top notch. McIntire is a WS target, no doubt. Emma is great and very responsive.

Which is a better program Duke’s MMS or UVA’s?

They are both great programs. If you want more of a generalize management masters, Duke might be better. UVA has a marketing/business (econ) tilt to it. Depends on what you want and like. Both are top schools though.

Which program do you believe would be better to break into IB or other “sexy” jobs as they call them in Poets and Quants, which could possibly be feeder companies to top 15-10 MBA programs? Thanks for the response I appreciate it.

Same answer as above, both. I think UVA might be a little better for finance jobs while Duke is more broad and can get you into top consulting.

Thank you.

thanks, how does Villanova compare to UVA?

Depends on what you want. I went to Nova and love the school, but if you can get into UVA, go. It is less specialized, but OCR is better (for right now anyway). I think both are great, but Nova is more for the finance UG’s. If you have a liberal arts background UVA is ideal for you.
