<p>Not so sure about research universities, but you might want to look into Oberlin if you want a liberal-arts feel.</p>

<p>Some (e.g. Northwestern) offer separate application tracks for a pure music degree and for dual degrees (music and arts/science).</p>
<p>The Music Major forum will be very helpful to you. Yale does not offer undergraduate music performance degrees. Do a search on the music focus of interest (voice performance, violin performance, music education, composition, etc) and you'll get a large number of threads with much information.</p>
