music schools

Does anyone know about universities with a solid music program?

Yale, Northwestern, SUNY-Fredonia come to mind.

Msu, Osu ...

I don't think Yale has an undergraduate music school.

Indiana, Rice, Michigan, DePauw, St. Olaf (choral), Oberlin, Boston U

Rice is pretty good.

I agree with Mom's list, and add on Rochester. Eastman is an excellent music school.

Strong music and strong undergrad academics:

Northwestern, Hopkins, Rice, Vanderbilt, Michigan.
Also agree with Rochester.

Music is a broad spectrum. Depending on your needs, all the schools listed would work.

There are many more. Check out the seperate Music Forum.

Yale music programs at the undergrad level are in certain disciplines only; instrumental performance is at the grad level only.

Are you familiar with the difference between A Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music program in Music? The answers would be entirely different for the two different types of degrees.

thanks for the replies guys

and no i don't know the difference between the two degrees can someone please inform me

AlphaDogg- there's plenty of detailed info on the cc music major forum. I'd recommend you start with the two sticky threads at the top of the page.
