Good News from the USC School of Pharmacy

<p>The USC School of Pharmacy is moving forward with research news and individual honors.</p>

<p>Dean R. Vanderveen has been honored with the 2013 American Pharmacists Academy Outstanding Dean Award. </p>

<p>The School of Pharmacy now ranks #2 in the nation in total National Institute of Health funding for pharmacy schools.</p>

<p>Dr. Enrique Cardenas has been knighted by France. He received the National Order of Merit of the French Republic. It is the highest honor given to a individual who is not a French citizen. Dr. Cardenas holds a joint appointment in Keck and the School of Pharmacy.</p>

<p>Assistant Professor Kathleen Hill-Besinque has been elected President of the California Pharmacists Association.</p>

<p>The school will share in the $25 million donation by Leonard Schaeffer as part of the Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics. </p>

<p>Dr. Darius Lakdawalla has been appointed to the new Quintiles Chair in Pharmaceutical Development and Regulatory Innovation. He will interface with the USC International Center for Regulatory Science at the pharmacy school. Dr. Lakdawalla's articles have been widely published. He is associate editor at the Review of Economics and Statistics, a recipient of the Milken Institute's Distinguished Economic Research Award and the Garfield Prize. Professor Lakdawalla received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago.</p>
