Good PRIVATE Loans???

So obviously, when we don't get enough to cover our costs, we need private loans right?

Does anyone know of any good ones?

How about Sallie Mae?

Any without cosigners?

PLEASE HELP....school is starting soon...ahhh.

I'm in the same boat- any recommendations would be appreciated.

For redzune- I took one out last year from Citibank. Berkeley had a program with them where you got lower rates or something, but they dont do that anymore. The Fin aid office actually is not at all helpful with private loans cos apparently they aren't allowed to recommend any...but its frustrating cos your not even sure where to start/apply/etc...grrr...

After doing some research, some are coming up to be at 8.5%. This is wayyy too much, imo. Any lower ones? I know it depends on credit history, so let's say you apply with a really worthy cosigner...

there is no such thing as a good loan. sorry :(

unless you get a government loan, maybe an unsubsidized perkins or direct/stafford, expect 8.5 to be pretty much normal. even with a good cosigner.
The best thing i could think of is to pay it off while your in school. Some loaners give interest on the initial amount, instead of the amount after you pay some of it back, so look out for those too.

Private loans are going to be expensive. You might be able to get like a small installment loan from your bank with lower interest, but it all depends.

Just see if there are things you can cut back on and get the smallest loan possible, and pay it responsibly. Work alittle while in college too. That will help. if youc an work like 8-10 hours a week, that would be around 350 a month.

I signed up for a triple and am saving almost 3k dollars from the estimated budget.
