What are some good professors for the required Ross School of Business Preferred Admission courses? Have to schedule classes at orientation…
english 125 will likely be with GSI only, so take your pick based on schedule. It’s seriously like the easiest class in all LSA
econ 101 i took in the spring with a GSI and calc at a CC, can’t help ya there
The Eco 101 instructor for my D was Ron Caldwell Jr. She really like that class and got an A+.
I concur with @billcsho about Caldwell for Econ 101, heard very good compliments of him from upperclassmen. Here is his profile from ratemyprofessor.com (very good resource btw): http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=1857248
I was lucky enough to get him, but his class is booked on WA. Try Dudley.
I briefly recall Jill Ellen Halpern being an excellent Calc 1 teacher, see if her class is available.
As far as English 125, I don’t know. Quick question though… My professor for English 125 is listed as “Staff” on WA, anyone know when they update this to say the professor’s name? It also doesn’t say the textbooks I need, while the rest of my classes have the required textbooks listed on WA.
I wanted to be selective as far as professors when I was selecting courses for Ross, however you simply can’t be. At orientation I sadly found that nearly every class I wanted was filled. I couldn’t even get into an English 124 OR 125 course because most were full, and the ones that were open conflicted with my other classes. They also say that if you have ratemyprofessor open on your computer while you’re scheduling they’ll tell you to close it. You really can’t get picky with this, you kind of just have to take what’s open and fits your schedule.
^ That is the problem for going to later orientation sessions.
Search the uofm subreddit for a reference that links ratemyprofessor and the u of m class schedule. It’s a nice and easy way to see it all at once. My orientation peer advisor clued me in and it worked really well.
“staff” will be some grad student and his pregnant wife linking 2 sections so they can be together, and threatening to assign seats when it gets a little noisy. Don’t take that class seriously
Caldwell for 101 hands down. He’s very clear with the subject matter and quite nice and approachable. Stevenson is good for 102. His class is considerably harder, but the curve is much more generous. I did great in both 101 and 102
