does Uni of Notre Dame have a very good biology program? and do they have a high acceptance rate for students being accepted into medical school? what do most of the school's alumni go into after graduating?

The bio and pre-med at ND are very strong and ND has a very good track record as far as getting students into medical school. As for where all of the alums go, it is a big mix, quite a few go on to grad school, about 10% do service I believe, and others go out into the real world. I personally just graduated and am going to grad school and I can tell you that coming from ND helped me a lot!

I heard somewhere that 90% of students who apply to med school are accepted.

I am 45 years old, graduated in 1984 and I can tell you that the ND diploma connections are the gifts that keep on giving. I haven't even made much of an effort at all to use the connections, and yet it is amazing how much I have benefitted from the network, just by happenstance. It's hard to even explain. Plus, the people are amazing people to boot.

I take it you aren't familiar with Notre Dame's tradition, scorpio08. While the academics are great, it's a lot more than that at ND.

^^ what do you mean?

yeah, that's what i thought.

the way you posed your question inclined me to believe you aren't familiar with Notre Dame. it's really not the 'Uni of Notre Dame,' as you put it. it's ND.

I don't know much about ND, but so far it seems that it is pretty much the ideal undergraduate experience in terms of tradition, athletics, setting, social scene, etc. But, not considering the USNews ranking, how do its academics compare to other top schools in the midwest (eg. Northwestern, Wash U, UChicago, UMich)? In some places, ND is ranked among these schools, though in others, it is considered not as good. Personally, I would study something in the humanities, economics, or business, so, how are these programs compared to other top schools in the midwest?
Thanks

woah woah lets not kid ourselves here. ND is every bit as good and even better in many areas as those aforementioned schools. We are definitely a better academic school than Michigan, though because they are a bigger school with more students, they have some programs that we do not have. We are consistently ranked among UChicago, Northwestern and Wash U. And let me say that I think Wash U's ranking is artificially inflated and deceptive.

rm, I can tell you that the three areas of interest you stated are all very well represented at ND. Mendoza is a phenomenal business school (though i'm not sure if it's still top 5 or 10 like it has been recently), and the humanities are very well covered in the college of Arts and letters. I have a few Econ major friends and they seem very happy with the program as well.

Ok, thanks for the replies
