<p>And you want to be a physician. Well, right there you have a point to make with your parents. UCLA is not the best to go for pre-med…ridiculously competitive, poor pre-med advising, no Committee Letters, and lowish acceptance rate (around 50%) to med schools. Your parents may not know this info.</p>
<p>Your stats are very good, but not so spectacular that getting into UCLA is a lock. That is another point to make with your parents. </p>
<p>Since your goal is med school, it’s very important that you go where you’ll have a high GPA and get a strong education in the sciences. It’s also important for you to minimize debt since med school is so important.</p>
<p>Income below 60K</p>
<p>With that income level, unless your family has a lot of assets, they may not be able to afford to contribute much. Do you know how much they plan on contributing each year?</p>
<p>Perhaps your family is pushing for UCLA because you qualify for Blue and Gold (free fees/tuition).</p>
