Good schools for transfers on the east coast?

I'm about to start my 2nd year at a CC and I'm going to finish with around a 3.5 gpa. If extra curriculars are important for transfer well I spend most of my off time working or baseball with my school.

Now my question is basically what schools are good for transfers? (for any reason be it easy to make friends, good scholarships for transfers, etc. as long as theres a reason behind your suggestions)

my choices so far are:

SUNY Cortland
College of Charleston
Ithaca
James Madison
Fordham
University of Florida
Penn State main campus

Penn State and Fordham are really good schools in the east. I mean NYU is really good, but it depends what your financial situation is. I'm applying to NYU and Penn State.

What are you looking to study? Cornell University has a great transfer community.

I'm a recent graduate...but I transferred to Cornell and had a wonderful experience.

Regardless of money I don't wanna go to NYU. I'm probably going to major in Pyschology or Sociology, and I'm considering going to law school after I finish undergrad. You mentioned Cornell, but is that possible with a 3.5 GPA?

If you don't mind sharing, what did you transfer with/from? What kind of college, college GPA, high school stats?

Transferred from SUNY New Paltz (4 year college) with a 3.9...was principal flute in the orchestra and on the swim team.

I forget my high school numbers since it doesn't matter any more :-) But...I think my UW GPA was around 3.9 and my SAT was around 1250 (like I said...don't remember). I had significant research and leadership experience.

dewdrop87 - What was your experience like at SUNY New Paltz? My son is transferring there and I was curious what you thought of it. Thanks!

Boston University
Northeastern University =]
Loyola College

I just transferred to Northeastern and its been great. terrific housing, professors, and friends. I also have two friends from high school that goto BU and Loyola and love the schools. All three schools are in cities, not sure if thats what you want though. a little more info on preferences would be useful.

Honestly...I hated it. I was a biology major and the program was not strong enough. It was a very small department and didn't challenge me. I felt my high school was more rigorous than the college.

I mainly went to the college for reasons of nostalgia. My father is an alumnus and was on the swim team....and pulled the "I would truly be honored if you went to New Paltz" card on me. I tried...but it just wasn't for me.

dewdrop - I will PM you so as not to highjack this thread.

Fordham can be hard for transfers because of the housing situation. Basically, you would probably be on your own to find something off campus. Is that a concern for you?

If you're looking at SUNY Cortland, look at SUNY Binghamton. We're considered the best SUNY and the 6th best public U. in the nation. At the same time, we take a third of our class from transfer students, so admission shouldn't be too difficult.

Let me know if you want more info.
