Good schools for viola?

My friend's a senior this year and wants to study music education (and perhaps double major in music performance). She plays viola and is pretty strong academically, but is looking to stay in or around the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast.

Here's what we've got so far:

Rutgers
Barnard
Temple
Ithaca
Penn State
NEC

Does anyone know about the programs at U. of Maryland, U. of Delaware, U. of Hartford, and Peabody? Any other recommendations?

Thanks!

How about University of Cincinnati, which houses the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.

NEC is almost inarguably the best place for violas in the country right now, and has an incredibly viola faculty. (for that reason it's a really tough admit, and in a totally different league from all the rest on the list)
Music ed is quite strong at Peabody, and it's also strong for viola.
Music ed is VERY strong at Maryland, esp for Suzuki, and it's an increasingly fine school; it's closer than you would think to Peabody in competitiveness.

Thanks for the tips! Anyone else have suggestions?

Yale, Northwestern if you'd like. Syracuse, Queens College, and a lot more.

There's no music ed (or undergraduate performance degree, either) at Yale, but you're right that it's a good viola school.

the head viola prof here at McGill, Andre Roy is extremely well known in his field. I know of two people who transfered from Juilliard and Manhattan to study with him here.
