Anyone know of good boarding/prep schools in the chicagoland area? I attend a public school right now, but I was looking to see if any other schools were available nearby to furthur "enhance" my educational experience...

Chicago has a ton of great schools! I don't happen to live in Chicago, so I wouldn't know the names of these particular schools (except the Lab School which is supposed to be very good) but I'm sure if you asked around, you'd find a nice neat list of schools.

The good schools are all day schools, I think. I can't think of any really good boarding schools in the Chicago area.

The one boarding school I am know of in the Chicago area is Lake Forest Academy.

in the city, the latin school, lab, parker and st ignatius are very good private schools and walter peyton is a strong magnet. Loyola is a good private day school in the suburbs.

You can go to www.petersons.com , go to K-12, and then search for schools in Illinois. This will include both boarding and day.

anyone heard of Phillips Lake Forest? PLF may be a good choice.

Good public schools are: Northside, Whitney Young, Walter Payton. They are known as the elite public school... acceptance rates of 90% and above. All fabolous schools.

Don't forget IMSA, even if you don't know if you want to major in math & science when you get to college. You'll need top math scores to get in, but it has an excellent performing arts program as well. My two siblings who went there ended up majoring in theater and philosophy once they got to college.
