Good Scores, Average Extracurriculars

Ok, so I don't have that many extracurricular activities and I'm really worried that this will be very detrimental in my chances to get into a good school. It's not like I have NONE--they just aren't very good ><.

So what I am wondering is: which top-tier schools do not put huge amounts of emphasis on extracurriculars? aka if I have very good scores (2300 SAT, 4.55 gpa), but so-so ECs, which good schools do I still have a good chance to get into?

For example, I took a look at Naviance for my school (a website that shows which colleges past students from my school got into) and discovered that UChicago accepted almost everyone who had good scores. But, colleges like Columbia and Cornell rejected MANY people with great scores (I'm assuming those people didn't have great ECs).

If anyone can provide a list of GOOD schools that do not put an INCREDIBLE amount of emphasis on ECs, that would be great. :)

All of the Ivies will put emphasis on EC’s as they typically have the largest pool of the most qualified applicants (stats wise) to choose from. Those with excellent ECs are the ones who stand out.

Two years ago, Chicago accepted 27% of applicants. At that rate, they probably did accept most of the applicants who appeared to have the academic credentials. Last year, the number of applicants rose by 42% and the acceptance rate fell to 18%. Now they’ll have multiple qualified applicants for each spot in the class, and they’ll have to give more consideration to factors beyond academic data.

Depending on what you plan on majoring in:
Emory
Notre Dame
U Mich
U Virginia
Wake Forest
BC
William and Mary

As much as I would not like for you to take my possible spot at the school ( ), I think you should apply to U of Michigan and possible Boston University. Two great schools you are likely to get in to.
Chance me back?

Gracee…

What is your intended major?

Ok, so aren’t you a junior? You still have time to get involved in some activities. What EC’s are you involved in now? Maybe you are underestimating yourself…

Big state schools. UVA, Umich, Emory is right (they accepted a wide range of kids from my school), USC.
