Good Second Major Idea?

I think psychology would be a good second major for someone who is considering law someday.

Disclaimer - I am not a lawyer, even though some people said that I may have missed my calling, except I can’t write, so…

Lawyers do a lot of negotiating and trying to close deals. At the end of day, people make decisions based on emotion, not as much with what’s right or wrong. A good negotiator understands what makes people tick.

D1 is in S&T, one of her mentors did suggest for her to take some psychology courses because they may help her when dealing with people.

D2 maybe pre-law. She is considering political science and literature. I would strongly push her to take some finance/economic courses. She doesn’t love math, but she does well enough that I think she probably could handle those courses.

^Econ. uses math and some with insufficient math background experience difficulties. Warning from one with MBA, I love math though and econ. was my favorite business class. Maybe your D2 should take college math before econ.? However, only advisor at her school can evaluate her situation.

A pre-law student majoring in humanities or social studies may also want to take introductory courses in calculus, statistics, and logic (philosophy). Logical thinking may help on the LSAT and in a law career.
