Good Topic or Stupid Topic

So for my common app essay I want to be different. I do not want to write trite stories that everyone else can write. For the failure one, I want to write about how I fell in front of a bunch of people my freshmen year and how that humiliation made me grow. Do you guys think this is a good, yet unique toic? Or is it just stupid.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Honestly, a normal person would say that sounds kind of dumb, but the thing is you want to be different so any idea that sounds different might seem dumb or strange. In the end all that matters is how your essay turns out. Sometimes even the stupidest topics can make some of the best essays

If you think feeling embarrassed or humiliated is unique then you must live on another planet. It isn’t necessarily a popular or boring topic for an essay that’s bad, it’s the way a person writes about that topic or experience.

It is not the topic, it is what you do with the topic.

Don’t strive for a unique topic. Instead, choose the topic that allows you to write your most personal, detailed/specific, and revealing essay. The essay that is so you that only you could write it.
