I am pretty sure I want to major in Statistics so I am wondering what schools are pretty good in it.
Please go past the tip of the icerberg such as Princeton, Harvard, Stanford, I'll probably apply to a couple schools like rice, vanderbilt, cornell, and northwestern but please go beyond the top 5 or so schools.

Also, if a university has a good math program does it likely have a Statistics Program of a similar strength?

I am a California student and will be applying to a couple UCs and Cal Poly, OOS public schools wont give enough aid, so im mainly looking for private schools.

* Also, if a university has a good math program does it likely have a Statistics Program of a similar strength?*

Not necessarily. Many universities that offer a math major don’t necessarily offer a statistics major, and pure and even applied math can be quite different from statistics offerings.

Columbia actually has a good statistics major with an active data sciences/statistics community - plenty of institutes and research; several statistically related graduate programs in which you could take graduate courses (actuarial science, mathematical finance, operations research, biostatistics) and you can take related courses in other departments if you are interested statistics of X (like industrial engineering). Carnegie Mellon is another school with a great statistics major and relationships to other departments and such. You’ve already mentioned a couple of other schools with great majors (Rice, Cornell, Northwestern); I just want to note that Brown also has a decent statistical sciences concentration, and Duke also has a statistics major.

Case Western offers a major in statistics, and they also have connected programs in biostats and epidemiology at which you could potentially take some courses. They have an option in actuarial science but their BS in stats seems to be more concentrated on theoretical statistics (and also requires differential equations, which isn’t bad but unusual. DiffEQ is really useful in stats though).

Elon is a small LAC with a major in statistics. Lehigh also offers a statistics major, as does the University of Rochester and Rochester Institute of Technology. Southern Methodist University offers a statistics major within a department of statistical science.
