Good Urban/City Engineering Schools

I am currently a junior in high school looking at colleges. I would like to go to a good engineering school and study either Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering. My brother attends John’s Hopkins and I absolutely love the campus and everything about it, however I do not believe I have the grades to get in. I currently have a 4.1 and 1300 SAT. I was wondering what schools are similar to Hopkins in that they are right on the edge of a city but still feel like a separate campus, and if I would be able to get in too any of them. Thanks for the help!

U of Rochester
Rice U
Case Western Reserve U
Illinois Institute of Technology
U of Tulsa
Saint Louis University
Washington University in St. Louis
Rensselaer Polytechnic Insitute
U of Washington
U of Minnesota-Twin Cities
U of Wisconsin-Madison
Northwestern U
Villanova U

Will you need financial aid for any of these universities? No sense applying if you can’t afford it.

Georgia Tech
Stevens Institute of Technology
and many others

Think about which city or climate or other factors interest you and that can help you narrow it down.

I am assuming the 1300 SAT is just for math and CR.

For any engineering program you will want to make sure it is accredited at www.abet.org.

Can you break down the SAT scores by subsection? What is your range of affordability?

Other peripheral urban schools to look into:
University of Utah
University of Portland
Georgia Tech (depends on what your subscore breakdown is)
Case Western
CU Boulder (Boulder is also a great college town in its own right)
Gonzaga University (I haven’t heard many great things about Spokane though)
North Carolina State University
Southern Methodist University
University of Miami
University of Nebraska - Lincoln

You might also want to consider Tufts, Drexel, U. Maryland, and obviously Carnegie Mellon. Good luck.
