Google CSS1 2018

Lol so the Coursera invite is an “application” and not you might not even get accepted into the course.

I swear Google is playing some kind of sick game.

Just a quick update for anyone flipping through this forum in the future:

A good portion of attendees have received our “Big Googley CSSI Action Items” that were mentioned in our first email. Also, we were asked to join a couple of social things in order to connect with other CSSIers at our designated locations. Most people have heard back by now, but of course, there is still the possibility of last minute spots being filled. Other than that, it sounds like everyone going has been notified!

It’s been almost a month since people started being accepted/waitlisted, and it took a good portion of time (2+ weeks) for rejections to start coming out.

If you haven’t already, be sure to check out this website for additional info regarding CSSI and other opportunities Google offers. Applications for summer of 2019 open in January I believe! https://buildyourfuture.withgoogle.com/programs/computer-science-summer-institute/#!?detail-content-tabby_activeEl=detail-overview-content

Did anyone apply to Coursera and heard back?

I applied to Coursera, but I haven’t received my decision yet. I received an email from them last Friday (May 18), and they said they’d notify me within one week regarding my decision. Hopefully they respond by tomorrow, but I’ll email them if they don’t.

Same here, but it would not surprise me if they are late. Have you heard whether they are being very selective about who gets the course?

I don’t know how selective it is, but I think it’s less selective than getting into the CSSI programs at the Google offices.

There’s nothing we can really do now besides wait and perhaps email CSSI, but hopefully we both get in!
