GOOGLE CSSI 2015??

I just got a call from a Google representative, I was chosen as a Google Generation Scholarship recipient, and I will be attending Google CSSI :slight_smile: !!!

@ayanes13 Congratulations! Thatā€™s so exciting!

Congratulations, ayanes13. I guess the CSSI-only applicants are just waiting until May? It looks like mockingjunior was right.

How many Google Generation Scholarships are given out every summer? And is it possible to only get CSSI and not the scholarship after applying through the application for both?

@fairyfantasy I think I saw in a previous yearā€™s discussion that if you donā€™t get the scholarship youā€™re considered for CSSI with the regular applicants. I donā€™t know if thatā€™s changed, but it seems reasonable that CSSI shouldnā€™t be dependent on the scholarship.

@ayanes13 congratulations on you scholarship
Iā€™m a little curious what where your specs and the college you will be attending in the fall?

Does anyone know if yesterday was th eonly notification date for the scholarship or if they notify applicants either way?

Congratulations @ayanes13

Good luck to everyone!

@Screennname last year phone calls went out in waves, so hopefully theyā€™re still calling people :slight_smile:

@lethallydia do you know if they call only those who were accepted or if they do it either way?

Are you notified if you are rejected?

@Screennname I think I read that phone call = scholarship, email = no scholarship. Iā€™m not sure if regular CSSI follows the same conventions, but I would think that they would notify everyone either way.

@Noogler Thank you! To be completely honest, I didnā€™t think I would get accepted, my specs arenā€™t great
SAT: 1920
GPA: 4.00 UW, Top 5%
School: Public (Really bad high school, constantly listed under my stateā€™s failing schools)
Hispanic female, first one in my family to go to college. I will be attending Carleton College, and I am a QB Finalist.
E.Cā€™s : Captain of Science Team, Co-founder of a website that aims to help low income students attend college, Art Club (treasurer), NHS, Student Govā€™t
Volunteer: Over 100 hours tutoring students in math, 50+ at an organization, 50+ at different events
I donā€™t have much exposure to computer science unfortunately because my high school does not offer computer science/programming classes, but Iā€™ve been actively learning on my own for the past year. I think what helped were my essays (I poured my heart into them), and my enthusiasm and perseverance. .
I really didnā€™t think I would get accepted! Iā€™m still really shocked, but Iā€™m so excited! This came as a surprise because I was also accepted to BOAā€™'s internship program, and I think I will have to give up on that to attend CSSI.

@ayanes13 congrats! And Carleton is a great school with a really good CS dept!

Were you a QB Match with Carleton?

@ormdad Thanks! No I did not get matched, instead I decided to do apply through Early Decision

@ayanes13 thats awesome I hope you enjoy the CSSI adventure :slight_smile:
Do you know which site you will be attending in the summer?

@Noogler I think NYC, but it hasnt been confirmed or anything

@ayanes13 What does your online application says?
One of my friend applied for Generation Google scholarship and he says the portal still shows it is in review.
What does your portal says whether the application review is completed or not?

@PlatyWolfCat Thanks! Hopefully I still have a chance at the CSSI then. :slight_smile:

I wish Google would send us SOMETHING, whether a call or email ><
This waiting game is painful.
