Google CSSI

Haven’t been contacted. Fear that means no…

I really want to get in, this program sounds awesome from what I’ve heard about. On a side note, does anyone know if they take people who may know a little more programming than a beginner? Hopefully all of us will here a positive response soon.

Everybody please calm down. The deadline was extended to March 17. It has been less than two weeks. Google has to review hundreds of applicants. They’ll respond in their own time, sometime in April.

Has anyone received an email from generation google/CSSI? I received one at around 6 pm today.

I got an email today. I got an interview!

I also got an email yesterday saying that I got an interview!! I’m so excited!

Dang, I was rejected. Oh well, good luck to everyone who got in!

Did not get an interview. Good luck those that did.

I got an interview! Does anybody know how many people applied and/or what the acceptance rate is and/or how many people Google takes per session?

I do not know how many applied this year, but I read that maybe three years ago like 600 students applied and they were able to accept 30 for each session (they only had two at the time, so 60). So with the three sessions they should be able to accept around 90 students. I’m hoping for the best!!

Hi I didn’t get a decline, but I also didn’t get an interview. I reviewed the confirmation email I received after I submitted my application and I accidentally wrote that I was enrolled in Univeristy, but I wrote that I was graduating June 2014. Do you think they’ll discard my application because of this?

I also wrote the University I’ve gotten accepted to so far and that I’ll be pursing a bachelors degree in CS
in the fall of 2014. Should I be worried??

A friend of mine that goes to the same school as me got a decline so…

Hi! I also received a really ambiguous email…I was neither rejected, nor offered an interview. I am wondering if this is a result of me being a generation google scholarship applicant rather then a cssi applicant? (I know there is overlap, but I can’t come up with another factor…) Does anyone know what this could possibly mean for my chances?

Hey MMAAYYBBEE I also received a vauge email. And email didn’t talked about any acceptance or rejection, it was a kind of wait list let me know if you receive any email from them

I also applied to the Generation Google scholarship and didn’t get an interview…but wasn’t rejected either…Hoping that maybe they do it differently for scholarship applicants :p

EDIT: I also just re-read the email and it says that it will be reviewed by the “Generation Google Committee”…so maybe they consider us separately from the CSSI applicants and if anything they might offer us an interview later on?

I am in the boat of Generation Scholarship applicants who were told a decision would be made by the 25th. Im not as interested in the money as I am in CSSI though, does getting through this first round mean my chances of being selected for CSSI are good?

@Twis7ed‌ That’s a good point! I never thought about it that way. I guess it’s still good to be hopeful

@Star1995‌ Sure thing  hopefully this is a good thing haha :)

I was told by someone who went through this process last year that if you get selected for Generation Google, you don’t have to interview at all, hence the vague email. If you aren’t selected for generation google, they can still reconsider you for CSSI only. If they decide to do that, then they’ll ask to interview you later this month. In other words, if your application is awesome enough to be selected for the generation scholarship, you bypass the interview process completely. If not, then you may get interviewed for CSSI alone in the future.

I have my interview in 3 hours. So nervous! Does anyone know what kind of technical questions they’ll ask? I’m so scared
