Google has created it own social network, that's more private than Facebook. Its called "Google+", so I went to check it out, and its really cool. But its in the beta phase. Its more friend and family oriented so you have to know the person, unlike Facebook. Thoughts?

The nature of these websites is transient. Social networks replace each other after several years. Most social network users wouldn’t even recognize the names of the first big sites.

This means nothing. Whatever projects they choose to work on, they could be working on other projects. There are already social networks, just like there were already search engines when they made Google, already other map sites when they made Google Maps, already other video sites when they made Google Video. They just want to make them better and make more money. Not that it matters if you support them, as I presume you’re not an executive.

Facebook has way too much momentum to be taken over.

Google+ needs a better name too. When I meet a person I start getting to know I’m not going to see “yo man add me on google plus homie”. Like COME ON MAN.

Facebook has so much more steam than Myspace ever did in popularity, revenue, and recognition.

Take out “the”, that’s it. Bam billion dollar site. But Google+. If I take out + I get Google. Search engine name, already taken. If I take out Google I get +. What the hell am I going to do with a +.

Eh, not when you look at it proportionally. The internet has a much larger role in our society now than like 7 years ago, so Facebook seems more important.

Either way, Facebook’s the powerhouse that Myspace never was. Google’s got big competition ahead in doing this, much much bigger than when Facebook took on Myspace.

“DUDE I LOVE YOU ALREADY BRO ADD ME ON CRUCIFY SPARTACUS WHEN YOU GET HOME HOMIEEEE”

Google could play dirty and remove Facebook from all Google searches, that could do something. Or make the scandals come up as the first links.

People are getting fed up with Facebook already. Something is like to take its place, whether or not it’s this. Myspace was a big deal, too. How old are you? Do you remember that time?

No, I was saying that you could crucify Spartacus with a +.

If I understand what you mean, Facebook’s too popular now for Google searches to make a difference. So many users right now. Too get the majority of nearly 500 million Facebook users to convert to Google so that it makes a difference will take quite a long time - if it happens.

I remember the Myspace times, I’m a naive teenager but even I remember those times. And I have a Facebook. Facebook > Myspace in so many ways. Social interaction was the first thing that Myspace lost to Facebook. Myspace was still a decent place to promote bands. It still kind of is, but Facebook’s picking steam up on that too.

Look, if Google+ picks up enough steam to beat Facebook, I’ll be the very first person on CC to say, “I was wrong, I was an idiot.” I seriously will. I’ll even mail you a letter. But I’m saying that Google+ has a HUGE, HUGE way to go, even with vandalism.

Honestly I’m trying to follow you here. Elaborate please, I’m getting tired -__-

I’m going to be fair in this argument. I just signed up for Google+ because, take me as you will, I’m not stubborn enough to argue against something blindly. I’m not saying Google+ is stupid, I’m saying that it’s going to take some luck and a LOT of time to beat Facebook. When I can fully use it I’ll change my judgments.
