Lots and lots and lots. My parents think an education is priceless. So they're willing to pay lots to make sure I get a decent one. But I'm reasonable, and when I know the program will be useless then I opt to tell my parents to save their money.

i'm asian particularly Korean but we don't use that much money. Sure my parents spend money on my education if it is necessary, but 1K i think that's kind of expensive. But it's your socioeconomical status, take advantage of it.

I took the SAT three times and got a 1390 overall. Not very high, but it put me in the 95th percentile of SAT-takers.

Amount we spent for SAT prep: 20 bucks, for the big, fat, red SAT prep book from Borders.

I got a considerably higher SAT than most of my friends that spent hundreds on SAT prep and dragged themselves to hours of practice for weeks. For instance: I scored seventy points higher than a friend that paid about 500 bucks (or her parents payed). Another friend paid several hundred and was an SAT-practice-test maniac for weeks and scored (only) sixty points higher than me. I say "only" because she spent way more money and put way more effort than me, for sixty points.

Sometimes it just depends on the kid and what they can learn/how they can perform regardless of professional prep. I wish I had gotten a higher score, but then again, I didn't really study the big, fat, red SAT prep book as much as I should have, either (like four hours the night before the test each time).

SAT Books: $100
SATs: $200
AP Prep Books: $75
AP Tests: Free
High School Tuition: Free
School Supplies: $200
Paying as much as I spent during all of high school for one week of college: Priceless (and horribly depressing)

yeah same as visirale. my parents won't let me work too. "students' job is school. nothing else".
My parents spend everything on my ed! I don't know what it's costing them cos they neva tell me but it must be heaps cos I got a personal tutor 6 days a week.
Also, I know they spent a fortune on my SAT books because I had to get it shipped from the u.s. They bought me 3 books for each subject test and like 5 SAT I prep books.
They also give me monthly allowance that I consistentaly tell them that I don't need.. and they also pay for my shopping, movies, eating, etc.. when i tell them I dont need that kind of money.
I FEEL SOOOOOOOOOO GUILTY
hopefully, i'll earn heaps of money and luxuriously take care of them when they are old lol.

lol, this is just chump change (i took sat i 3 times, 2 sat ii once, 1 sat ii twice, a princeton sat prep book, and a bunch of library fines from taking out their sat prep books)

try the 44Gs my parents' will pay this fall... eeek

LOL... I was reading a newspaper article this morning and it reviewed local private schools and there were many for 24-27K... theses aren't even boarding schools! Wow! I go to a public school but most kids from my neighborhood go to private schools and they're no smarter than I.

I take college classes over the summer and they cost upwards of $3000 but that's about it for me.

hmm... trying to let your temptation go over an extra cookie in the cafeteria... cuz of 50 cents... compare this to how much we will have2 pay college in the future. I feel very guilty too; my parents just gives me money if I ask them. I'm not much of a party or a buy game person.

tuition free
ap prep: prolly $80, but my bro can use em too, and I got every math text book to diff equations from school :)
ap exam: free
SAT: $60

but i rarely buy stuff for myself, unless i really need it.

PS: I just found out last night that i NEED a PSP and IPOD! :)
