Gosh this forum is dead!!!

I might apply as a transfer student ;)
LA is an AMAZING city! Our family just moved out there in August and I really think the whole "beverly hills" scene (which isn't even how I feel it's depicted in movies and stuff) is a big deal. It's way worse in miami I think where I go to school (umiami...) which is a reason I want to transfer haha.
The only drawback is it's super duper small but I have a feeling it'd work towards one's advantage. We shall see!

jeremy, just curious, is that the only reason you don't like miami? i'm applying to both that school and oxy.

Hey,GiggitusMaximus, thanks. The sup was downloaded 12th too.
I've just got the postcard from Oxy. The Orange tiger is so Kool, but looks like Cheetah:P
Hope they can give some FA to intl students this year. Love Oxy so much.

Yeah he reminds me of the Cheetos mascot lol

does anyone know if oxy has "congratulations" on the envelope
so you find out if you got in or not even before opening it??
my friend's was like that but different schoool..

I heard that last year someone's ED acceptance letter had "Welcome to Oxy" on the envelope.

Oh i see. hmmm. i'm excited and nervous for the results.
did you apply ED or RD?

I did RD. I wanted to do ED but I've never visited Oxy or even LA. How about you?

Oh i see. I did ED.
It's really important to visit the campus.
I actually live about 15 minutues away from Oxy. I visited there several times
and went on their overnight stay program and loved it.
I first wanted to go to college outside LA because I was tired of the year long sunny weather here and wanted to go somewhere colder with snow~ but Oxy made me change my mind (even though it's tooo close to my house).
What do you want to major in?

Right now I'm seriously thinking about psychology, but that's not 100%.
That would be nice to live so close to campus seeing as Oxy is pricey even w/o room and board.
Do you know Oxy's rep in LA? What do you plan to major in?

I think it has good reputation ;)
but it's really expensive so maybe that's the only thing keeps some people
i know from applying there. Oxy got noticed to the public more recently after
Obama got elected as our president. You know he went there for two years ;D
I'm thinking of majoring in sociology and minor in education or Japanese.
ORR, major in Asian Studies with emphasis on Japanese and minor in Education. xD
i'm not really sure yet.
do you want to minor in anying?
what kind of extracurricular activities do you do?

I'm going to take their writing thing Occidental College :: English Writing but I probably won't do a minor. My EC is mainly Teen Court, so not exactly my strong point lol. I'm hoping that my legacy status (mom, uncle, and aunt went there) and interview will make up for that.

Oh wow that's soo cool!
haha my spanish teacher went there but that's about it xD
did you take ACT? did you take SATII?
I only took SAT and one SATII...
what other schools are your top choices?

I took the ACT but I did REALLY bad on it. I did sign up for a couple of SAT 2s, but I over slept and got locked out of the testing facility lol. One of my top choices was Emory, but I was deferred today(so I've lost all interest in it) :(. My other top choice is Seattle U, so hopefully it will come down to either Oxy or Seattle.

I got deferred..........................................

Damn sorry to hear that:( At least you weren't rejected

yea i know i'm actually happy that they didn't deferred me instead
i know some people who got rejected so
but then i know people who got accepted xD

i'm an international student applyin to Oxy.

i would love to go to school in LA and oxy seems like a good school. (i dnt no for sure i never visited the institution.)

does any current student/alum have any more info on the oxy internship at the UN?

Yeah - it's a great program here, and I think oxy sends somewhere around 20 kids per year. I don't think it's limited by number, as long as you meet some gpa requirement and take the required classes and your professors like you. Most kids do it during their junior year, but I know of some people who do it the fall of their senior year. I think you have to be either a 1) Diplomacy and world affairs major, 2) Politics, or 3) Economics major. But most kids are DWA, but I don't think it matters what major you are. If you want more information, go to the oxy website and e-mail the chair of the DWA department and he/she should reply to you. There's probably a section somewhere about the program specifically. Hope that helps! (I'm a current student 1st year by the way)
