Currently I am a high school junior, for the October SAT, I got a 2200 (800 M, 700 CR, 700 W), but I bombed the PSAT the week after (80 M, 59 CR, 58 W). Since that score wouldn't even get commended, how would that affect me?

Commended/NMSF barely matters to colleges, so you’re fine.

NMSF is really only good for state schools so if you’re looking to go to a private college/university I wouldn’t worry about it.

Honestly, if I had to choose between having a high SAT score and a high PSAT score, I’d pick the high SAT score any day. The benefits of NMS are only apparent at most state schools and less selective private universities.

A PSAT at the NMF level would have gotten you some scholarships, but the SAT is what will be used in admission decisions.
