If anyone could, could you provide me with your prediction on the likeliness of my receiving a award of any kind?
I got a 1440 on the PSAT and an index of 214. However, the index in NJ is 223, but I feel like I’ve heard of people who have gotten somewhat lower scores than someone who got say a 1470, but still received an award (granted, this took place in a different state).
I’d appreciate any beneficial input, thank you.
Different states have different cut offs, but “commended” is the same cut off nation wide you’ll likely make commeded with a 214.
NMSF status is decided based on your state. Each state has a qualifying index. NJ’s 223 is one of the highest-- the lowest, I believe, is 212. The average is around 218. The way the system is set up, students from other states with lower scores will receive NMSF status with much lower scores than yours. Unfortunately, you most likely won’t receive NM since NJ’s qualifying index is expected to stay at 223. In the grand scheme of things, this isn’t a huge deal. 1440 is still a good score and the test can provide feedback on what to study when you take the SAT!
Oh, shoot! Thanks for your timely response.
Thank you!
