Got a C in Organic Chemistry, what do I do?

So I recently transferred to my new university and I got a C in organic Chemistry. My gpa this semester is coming around to a 3.1. At my old university I had a 3.4 at the end of my freshman year. I will try to bring up my grades in the next 3 semesters (Since I am thinking of applying at the end of my junior year) Will medical schools look down upon the fact that I did poorly in organic chemistry and the rest of my grades are bad? Will I have a chance at applying to any medical school?

With your current grades and GPA—not a chance.

Yes, they will. Plus you currently have downward grade trend–which is never a good thing.

Right now your sGPA and GPA are not competitive for allopathic (MD) or osteopathic (DO) medical programs. (Median GPA for MD programs is 3.71; median GPA for DO programs is 3.54)

Don’t do that!
You need to do some major GPA repair before you even think about applying to med school.

Unless you are going to somewhere like Caltech or have huge hooks, I would look at other options.

As the above commenters have stated, your GPA is low for both DO and MD schools- however, that doesn’t mean your chances of attending medical school are completely gone. I suggest regrouping to understand what you are doing wrong. You need to bring your GPA up significantly. Secondly, there are many ways of getting to medical school, you do not have to apply during undergrad and go right after you graduate with your bachelor’s. Many people take time after undergrad to get a master’s, do a post-bacc program, research, volunteer, become an EMT, etc. I would seek advice from the pre-medical advising office at your school. Best of luck!
