Got a Couple of Questions Please Help

I will be transferring from community college to either CSULB, CSUF, CSUN, CPP, CSULA, or CSUSB.

My gpa is 3.4 is that good or bad ?

Will I get accepted to my top three schools (they are CSULB, CSUF, & CSUN) ?

My major is Business Marketing

I will be finishing two associates one is A.A in Admin & Info Systems the second is A.S in Math and Science

I am from the Inland empire (riverside- corona area)

Are you (reading this right now) from out of area (not considered local) and have a gpa close to mine and gotten accepted to any these schools ?

ALSO, does volunteer work look good on a CSU application ? Does volunteer work at a hospital or library look good ?

You have eleven threads and are yelling in the titles of ten of them. Try letting go of the Shift key. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sure, volunteer work usually looks decent if you dedicate time to it – but so does every other kind of extracurricular. Don’t fake generosity/compassion in order to look good for colleges.

im so sorry ! I would delete them but I don’t know how !? also I reposted bc I needed to update the info on it

I’m currently attempting to get into CSUN. I have a 3.9 GPA and applied as a Kinesiology major (impacted). Volunteer work does NOT look good on your application because there is no area to put down volunteer work. Volunteer work and extracurriculars really only look goo when you apply straight from high school, or when applying for a job. Otherwise, your experience is not counted. The only thing that can make you an “outstanding” candidate is to get good grades. Good luck getting in! If you get accepted into fulletron, I’d suggest you go there since there business program is one of the better ones for CSUs.

Hey guys, has anyone received an e-mail acknowledgement from Northridge yet for Fall 2016? D2 applied on October 1 and their website says "please allow about 3 weeks . . . ". It’s the only CSU we are waiting on - the others have already sent her an e-mail with instructions for how to check application status.

I know that when she logs into CSUMentor her application is recorded as sent and the fee was processed. It’s just taking a long time to get an acknowledgement.

@Mamelot Students will receive further information regarding their campus wide student ID number approximately three weeks from the submission date for their respective application. You will NOT hear back from the campus’ admission department of regarding an acceptance/rejection until spring of 2016. Just be as patient as possible. Best of luck,

Thanks for confirming the long wait @JohnnyKjayy - yeah, D2 isn’t expecting to hear from Northridge as to admission status for several more months. She’s just looking for the ID number at this point.

@Mamelot I haven’t gotten the promised 3-weeks-after-submitting email back from Northridge yet either and I applied on the first day. I was getting worried but now I know I’m not the only one!

@shellebelle212 @mamelot I also have not gotten the letter in the mail they said would take three weeks with portal/id info from Northridge.

@StilesStyles @Mamelot By the way, have you submitted transcripts for work in progress from the current semester for CSUN? I have 2 other official transcripts from other schools that I submitted and got a little carried away and also sent a transcript for Fall 2015. I learned afterwards that you’re not supposed to do that, only after your fall (and winter, if applicable) grades have posted, so sometime in January. Is this going to be a problem? I read on another thread from years ago that someone was initially denied because of it but then he/she called and explained she had another transcript coming so it was ok after that. Its kinda stupid but it seemed like the instructions were to submit all transcripts right away, regardless

@shellebelle212 D2 is going to wait until January and then submit to all her CSU schools. She’s on a trimester system but her foreign language course (that shows up on her transcript as well) is actually a semester course so we are waiting till she’s completed that before sending along.

Haven’t read what Northridge does if they receive transcripts too early. I know that Fullerton discards them. I would imagine that the denial to that student was simply because they recorded that she didn’t have the requisite classes or something. The wonders of bureaucracy! I think the instructions to send transcripts right away should include the qualifier about waiting till 7th semester if you are applying for fall - you are correct that it’s not entirely clear. But consider this: if they really wanted your transcripts through Junior year, they would not have required all that self reporting of grades  It seems that admission is based on self-reporting and the 7th semester transcript is like your mid-year checking in. And of course you need to send final transcripts as well by sometime in the summer (but that’s just going to be to your one school that you enrolled at).
