Got a grade I don't think I deserve?

This previous semester I took an online course. I put a decent amount of effort into the course. I was getting decent grades. However, when grades got posted recently I find I got a D in this course. My concern is that my professor isn't grading me for work I actually turned in. A lot of assignments had to be emailed to the professor, but he never responded to emails, even if it was questions or whatnot about the class. I eventually got into contact with him over phone because I was out sick for a week with Mono. I had a doctors note, so he agreed to let me make up the weeks assignments in essay form, which I did. And emailed to him. He never responded.

Normally, since this course was through blackboard, I would be able to go and see what he gave me for each assignment. But he removed the class a week or two before the semester actually ended, so I can't go back and look. I wouldn't be too upset had it been a B- or C+, but a D just isn't okay for the work I put in.

My advisor is gone until the next sesmter, so I'm wondering who I should get into contact with to talk to about this?

Thanks for any advice or help!

You could ask the prof to see what the grades were for each assignment. Unfortunately the amount of effort you put in doesn’t guarantee you anything but if you have 0s on assignments you turned in (and you have the emails to prove you submitted them) then your grade should actually be changed.
