I was just accepted to the Fall 2012 semester at Auburn and I really want to go there. Unfortunately, I live out of state. I have the Florida "Bright Futures" scholarship, but would like to get more money before going to school.
I was wondering when or if I will receive any extra financial aid from Auburn in the form of an academic scholarship. If I do, when does that usually happen? Thanks!

What are your stats? Auburn has been upping the merit scholarship ante as of late but not sure of other offers. Talk to admissions or financial aid at Auburn and see what may be available.

**^^^

Not true at all.**

Auburn has **REDUCED **its merit scholarships significantly.

What are your stats?

Out of State costs are about $36k per year…OOS tuition is $23k

Presidential Scholarship

Requires a 34-36 ACT or 1490-1600 SAT score and a minimum 3.5 high school GPA for consideration.
Awarded at $60,000 over four years ($15,000 per year), a $1,000 technology allowance the first fall semester, and an invitation to participate in the University Honors College.

Heritage Scholarship

Requires a 31-33 ACT or 1360-1480 SAT score and a minimum 3.5 high school GPA for consideration.
Awarded at $40,000 over four years ($10,000 per year).

Charter Scholarship
Requires a 29-30 ACT or 1290-1350 SAT score and a minimum 3.5 high school GPA for consideration.
Awarded at $20,000 over four years ($5,000 per year).

Edited to add…

*I have a 1990 SAT (600 CR, 670 Math, 720 Writing) and a 29 ACT (35 English, 27 Math, etc.). *

With a 1270 M+CR and a 29 ACT…

You’d only get $5k per year…that’s not much of a dent in the cost.

thanks for the info. I took the SAT again earlier this month and haven’t gotten my results back, though I am hoping to improve my score. $10,000 a year looks a lot better than $5000 for sure.

I’m confused. Isn’t the bright futures only available to you if you go to a school in Florida?

based on your screen name i would agree you really want to go there but just letting you know that UAB (another alabama school) would give you 15K per year for an act 28+ against a total cost of attendance of 20-24K (tuition, dorm, food) that leaves only 5-9K per year , very different campus, no football to speak of (well they do have a team but…) but very strong for sciences ,does have full compliment of majors too. so if cost is a factor, you could check out Welcome

I believe Swimcatsmom is right - Bright Futures only applies to FL schools.

I want to go Auburn because my family has a long history at the school. My grandfather was a professor there for 10 years, and my mother and aunt both got their undergrad degrees there. Does Auburn give any legacy scholarships?

Is your Google broken? [Office of University Scholarships - Auburn University](http://www.auburn.edu/scholarship/alumni-scholarships.html) $1.5K/year.

What is your major?

Do you know how much your parents are willing to pay? It sounds like Florida publics would just be mostly room and board for you, while UMiami and Auburn would be a lot more expensive.

That’s good news. And my major will probably be accounting. I will probably end up at a FL public.
