Got bad SAT Subject Tests sophomore year...do I HAVE to submit them??

Hello all,

I got a 640 on Math I and 620 on self-study Chemistry SAT subject tests during my Sophomore year in HS (quite low considering my college goals). I will be taking the SAT subject in Physics and Math II and anticipate at least 700 in both, likely above/around 750 for both.

UPenn, Stanford, and others require you to submit ALL scores...do I HAVE to submit those bad scores? I feel like they tarnish my other standardized test scores. My SAT is currently 2210 (730CR,750M,730W).

Thanks in advance for anyone who can shed light on this situation.

I believe they only require all SAT and/or ACT testing to be reported…not SAT IIs… Stanford recommends two subject tests but you can send any or all and UPenn requires two subject tests- any two you wish to submit. So, I think you can forget those two sophomore tests and hope for better… Read the requirements for each school you apply to carefully, don’t confuse SAT/ACT requirements with those for SAT subject tests. Good luck!

Thank you, I’ll need to clarify if that’s the case. I will post back after I check.

For UPenn: “No preference is given to either test. Penn requires applicants to submit their entire testing history. Although Penn will pay attention to the highest scores from any test or subsection when reviewing a candidate’s application, having the complete testing profile provides deeper insight.”

So by “entire testing history”, I’ll assume that’s probably subject tests too.
