Because i work in admissions nyugent. Admissions standards are higher.

hmm two people who also works in admissions told me the opposite. they said that admissiosn standards for ED is higher than RD......

SunGodchic,

Frankly, I don't believe that MIT would accept anyone with your lack of clarity about this whole thing. You appear to know very little about MIT, Cambridge, etc...

I have no idea about your stats, or about you, but if these rants are any indication of your capacity for cognition, I would caution you against attending MIT or JHU. You will not be able to cope with either.

Even MIT makes a mistake sometimes, though they might not admit it!

Uh..sure. I have direct quotes from John Latting, director of admissions stating ED gives a boost to applicants compared to rd. im sure your "friends" know this also.

john i was just saying it the way that those people said it to me, dont get all offensive over it. i didnt say you were WRONG its obvious that each of us have different sources and knows of different things. and frankly i dont really care about your quote, im not here to prove that your wrong or that im wrong about ED or RD cause it doesnt matter to me.

Wow. Lots of anger on this thread.

I must admit, I'm very curious....how DOES one get accepted into MIT and deferred from Hopkins? Do you (Sungodchic) have any idea what it may have been?

Anyway, cheer up -- the fact that you were accepted to MIT means you must be very well qualified for virtually any school in the country. Although I don't know anything about your stats, ECs, etc., I have no doubt that you will be accepted to Hopkins RD. So go have a cookie and a merry Christmas (assuming you celebrate Christmas anyway) and worry about reversing your deferral later. :)

lol yea alice, stop freaking out and be happy that you actually got into MIT. I still dont understand why ur always sayin that you HAVE to go to MIT now. admissions are weird, a guy frommy school last year was rejected from yale but got into harvard.......happens that way.

Thats fine. The reason i sound angry over it is because you are spreading incorrect information. On top of that you have been portraying JHU in a very negative light in your past posts. This campus would do ALOT better without people like you.

okay first of all im NOT spreading incorrect information, what i know is correct according to me, and what you THINK you know is correct according to you. so just because you know something different than me doesnt make me incorrect okay? and second, im just saying hopkins liek the way i know of it. hopkins IS alot of work, and even the person who works there says that hopkins has been ridiculed for its student's lack of social life. and baltimore is NOT the best city in the world. so just because i wanna go to hopkins doesnt mean i have to advertise it against what i see it as. ahah with people like me? people that actually tell the truth rather than rambling on some crap thats false and against what you know? just becasue youre at hopkins and work there doesnt make a damn difference between what i know and what you know. stop making it seem like ur omniscent and everyone else isnt okay?

Whatever you say. In the end everyone looks at you as foolish for applying ED considering you consistenly dwell on Hopkins' supposed negatives.

foolishly aha. u dont even get what im trying to say. youre too stubborn to even consider other people's opinions and think that what you know is correct. if those things are so wrong, then youre saying that hopkins isnt alot of work and that its a party school? or are you saying that baltimore is the best city without such a high crime rate? what i said are true, and people who wants to apply there should realize these things. like i said just because hopkins is my school of choice doesnt mean that i have to advertise it against what i know. also, the fact that i know those things about hopkins and still want to go there just proves how good hopkins actually is and how worthwhile its education is. i never said that hopkins was a BAD school, i just said that its social life is not soo good and that baltimore isnt as good of a city as some may think. if people see me sayin that about hopkins, and they decide to withdraw their decision, then good for htem, because if they didnt, maybe they wotn be able to make it at hopkins. but if people see me sayin that and STILL apply, those are the people who truly belong there. you're the one making youself seem small by not being open minded enough to accept other peoples opinion and just because you go to hopkins, you think theres nothing negative about it. all schools has its bad and its good, including hopkins.

i got deferred from a school. don't worry its not the end of the world.
being deferred from a certain ivy league allowed me to explore my options. and to become a hopkins wannabe once again. i think everyone should stop arguing and start loving. besides, nguyent's right. all schools have their good and bad--hopkins has good faculty, and good students.. but bad food, and a bad neighborhood really. but we don't hold it against it, obviously since we're applying. johnkgh, thanks for the information about the difficulty level RD as opposed to ED. I'm sure either one of you can be right, there's no set formula, thank the admissions committees for their randomness.
calm down everyone, have a great holiday season, and if you dont believe in holidays, then have a great day!

"Sorry, but I'm just pulling my hair out over nothing. I guess MIT isn't so bad. Its just its not even in Boston. I want to be right in the action. Hopkins is located in Charm City. I visited and loved it. Baltimore Has the best nightlife in the world. Is anyone that is going to Hopkins feel the same"

lol you can walk to boston from MIT dear. It's only a bridge away.

wow i never knew that...
