I got deffered from JHU and I think I am going to freak. This is the worst week of my life. What am I going to do? My eyes are all puffy. Instead of going to Hopkins I have to go to MIT. I hate engineering. Engineers are dorks. HEEEEELLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have decided to turn this thread into a support group. Write if you want join.

JHU is very engineering-geared as well, so ... your experience at MIT in terms of the "dorks" will probably be similar.

uhhh....lemme get this straight...you have to "settle" for MIT? i wish i could settle for such a school...

just a tad melodramatic, aren't you?

geez, go easy on us engineers. Even though, i admit, i am a nerd. I would love the oppurtunity to go to MIT by the way, so i would count your blessings.

You know Alice, I understand your pain... How can people be deffered from Hopkins and have to go to a school like MIT. That, like, shouldn't ever happen to anyone. I wish you great strength in your battles with the dorks at MIT.

Best of luck to you. If you ever need any moral support, please be sure to post another thread.

ahah sorry gothic, but i dont understand where your coming from. heres wat i dont get:
1) why do you HAVE to go to MIT?
2) if you hate it so much, why did you even apply?
3) MIT is probably even harder to get into Hopkins.
4) people are DYING to get into MIT, and your complainin about it that you have to "settle" for it?
5) you know that there are other colleges other than MIT and Hopkins right?
6) being deferred doensnt mean rejection, means u still have another chance
7) why are ur eyes puffy again? oh wait...cuase MIT is so dorky, ur too good for MIT right?

Overall, i thikn that you're REALLY REALLY SERIOUSLY ABSOLUTELY DEFINITELY O.V.E.R.R.E.A.C.T.I.N.G. and no thats not an acronym for anything. sorry that i wasnt able to help, i just dont sympathize with those who complain and whine and cry over something so not worth it, and also i dont see what problem you have so..uhh yea good luck, too bad u have to go to MIT i mean who wants to go there right? Its ONLY one of the best schools in the nation...gosh whyd anyone ever create such a horrible sschool?

what he said ^

Sorry about my complaining I just really liked the feel of Hopkins. I really don't get how I got deferred from hopkins, but not MIT. Does anyone want to start a support group though. I need help to get through this.

then you dont have to go to MIT, apply to other schools, im almost sure that you will be able to get into JHU RD, its actually EASIER to get in RD than ED. what is teh support group goign to be for? people who get deferred from hopkins? if u wanna get in, then do something that you think will help instead of complaining over it. im sure that the people who did got in ED didnt just get it from out of the sky. anyways, good luck sorry iw ont be joining ur support group
btw, SAT, im a girl

Wait please it possible to transfer admit notifications ? I am willing to go to a school of "dorks" even though i am not one! And someone who gets in RD in april and doesnt want to go can give her their's!!

lol wat? how do u transfer admittance notifications? well the problem with goin to a school of dorks even tho ur not one is maybe u'll get in, doesnt eman u'll stay in

Sorry, but I'm just pulling my hair out over nothing. I guess MIT isn't so bad. Its just its not even in Boston. I want to be right in the action. Hopkins is located in Charm City. I visited and loved it. Baltimore Has the best nightlife in the world. Is anyone that is going to Hopkins feel the same.

wow I am just kidding nyugent!! Anyway I think its not necessary to be a nerd to have fun in MIT . I am sure there area lot of un people around.

I was wondering if anyone knew about any of the great things to do around Hopkins. This is why I want to go there and not some place where there are not clubs or chic restaurants on every block. I'm thinking of visiting again and want some cool college things to do.

JHU RD is harder than ED despite what Nyugent says. But since you got into MIT EA which is definitely harder than MIT RD, you would definitely get into Hopkins RD. Personally I have a hard time believing you since you got into MIT EA yet deferred from Hopkins. That simply does not happen ESPECIALLY for engineering. Perhaps you were deferred from BME but accepted overall? You wording is unclear.

I don't want to do engineering. I just felt pressured by everyone I know to try out for MIT. Hopkins isn't just engineering, just a large part of it is.

"Baltimore Has the best nightlife in the world. Is anyone that is going to Hopkins feel the same."
lol .... uhh..ive always known baltimore as the stupid kids city, drugs, poor, schools that dont even have paper with a budget crisis. nightlife? ahah downtown is ugly and dirty and has nothing but the stupid harbor that i dont even see why its so great. theres alot of crimes here. LOL why do i know this? ahah cuase i live in baltimore HAHAHA boy...im gonna be a book worm when i get to JHU :( :( sigh.........anyone else feel that way?

lol godchic, u dont HAVE to go to MIT my dear. and plus as stupid as i am when it comes to admissions, im about 101% sure u'll get into hopkins RD. like i said no point in complaining about it. and john, what made u say that RD is harder than ED? cause theres more people? anyways, god chic, apply to other schools and wait till april, but before than, dont try anything bad ~_*
sounds like u have alot of pressure from ur friends and families or something to do engineering, truth is, if u dont like engineering, than screw them (lol not literally) just do wat u want and relax a bunch my friend.
ps. i still dotn know why u like baltimore, if it wasnt for my parents wanting me to stay in state id move out of here as fast as i can book a ticket.

Baltimore is beautiful. My friend lives there and she says she loves it. The Gallery has great shopping. Hello have you heard of Gap. In my town we don't have that. I visited New York and I couldn't find Gap. I think this just goes to show the difference in being able to attract stores.
