Very grateful to have gotten 23 K…I guess my question is to anyone that would know is how much of that is OOS waiver?..and any guess on the final price tag based on that?
My S found it in his account after getting an email if anyone else is interested in tracking that down
Congrats!.
I am not sure what you mean by OOS waiver. It is all just lumped together. Did you look at the details to see if that is all grants and scholarships? Some may be loans. My daughter got $18,000 but $5500 was loans. From my understanding there are several levels of OOS awards. There are OOS academic merit awards of either $7500, $10,000, or $15,000 depending on class rank and test scores. If your estimated family contribution is less than the cost of attendance they add another $2500 “flat rate” merit/need grant. My daughter got that added to the $10,000 merit for a total of $12,500 in scholarships and grants. I would suspect that your son earned $15,000 OOS merit scholarship plus the $2,500 “bonus” for a total of $17,500 free money. The remaining $4500 is most likely two different federal loans (one subsidised and one not).

That makes since based on the other calculations I have seen. Thanks for the great answer.
We are OOS and my son received $15,000 in merit scholarship money and the $2,500 bonus in financial aid grant. Clemson has been very generous but the cost of attending OOS is still higher than the cost of our in-state schools. Son liked Clemson but we probably can’t justify the higher price.
