Penn CAS v. Cornell Cas
I was accepted ED into Penn & amy friend got ED into Cornell. We agreed that Penn has the better business school and Cornell has the better engineering school but who has the better CAS?

i'm just curious to see some responses but either way im totally happy about going to penn in the fall =]

Penn CAS and Cornell CAS are about the same. Penn CAS is harder to get into in that the entering students have somewhat stronger qualifications (APs, SATs). Cornell is a bit stronger than Penn in the natural sciences (e.g. Penn = Cornell in math theory while Cornell is better in applied math)… Penn social sciences are stronger than Cornell except for Penn political science, which is a notoriously weak department.

all in all: Penn CAS vs. Cornell CAS is a tie

No difference in overall quality. Both are top notch, but then again, the educational experience is largely what you make of it.

Penn political science has experienced something of a rebirth in the last decade though by poaching some great professors from peer schools (including Cornell), increasing the size of the faculty, expanding the graduate program, and integrating with other departments to create and enhance interdisciplinary programs. It probably helps that the president is a noted political theorist…

They’re both terrific, with lots of top-10 and top-20 departments. 'Nuff said. :)
