Got into Cornell but financial aid!!!!!!!

So I got into Cornell, a feat I thought unimaginable. And then I got my financial aid package. I need to pay around 34 K a year (including all expenses) and now Im completely distraught. I want to go to Cornell because of the atmosphere, and connections, and prestige, but the burden that this will put on my parents is worrying me. My other option is Hunter, but I would be going from an IVY to a cuny. I still need to pay around 4K, but thats a fraction of the cost of the latter. Also there is a nursing program at Hunter. At Cornel I would be doing biology or something, and continuing on to PA school. At Hunter I would become a nurse, and then go on to become an np (and the education for an np would most likely be covered by the hospital that i would work at). I don’t know what to do so HELP ME!!!

Paying for college is a family’s personal decision. These conversations should have taken place prior to applications. I am always saddened to hear these stories as all schools offer websites with cost of attendance and estimated FA that are very accurate. Ivy league schools have never offered any merit aid. If parents are unwilling to or unable to pay for private school education, please save you child disappointment and save your money on the application fee. I am very sorry for your situation.

You can’t afford Cornell. Did you not know that Cornell was expensive? You need to go somewhere that you can afford.

If its any consolation, Hunter has a great nursing program and it doesn’t really matter where you go for undergrad for health sciences professions. Also, you could always get a merit based scholarship such as the Yalow scholars from Hunter that could make your tuition free.
